Beer Can Litter Journal

A few facts about recycling beer cans (more here) and why it is environmentally important.

  • Processing used aluminium requires about 90% less energy and generates 90% fewer carbon emissions than making new aluminum out of bauxite.
  • Aluminum can pretty much live forever, if we let it.
  • Making a can from recycled material requires only 8 percent of the energy that it takes to make a can out of brand-new aluminum.

Below is my photographic journal that documents the discarded beer and cider cans I have discovered across Cambridge. Cans that probably won't be recycled. I have also included the odd aluminium soft drink can as they too need recycling.
